    Default Fallen Marines

    Greetings,

I found this while perusing a Marine web site. Thought some might be interested, especially Marines.

I agree Cap. Something got in my eye quite often during that one.

I especially like the picture of the people looking out of the aircraft at the casket as it is being unloaded.

I read a new report on the web last year (probably from the same folks that ran the story) about the captain notifying the passengers that their disembarking of the aircraft would be delayed until the Marine could be off loaded.

Casualty notification calls have to be one of the worst jobs in military, you feel the loss yourself (especially as Marines) and you have to support the family no matter what their reaction is. Tough position.

I can't bear to see that one anymore.

Chance Phelps was wearing his Saint Christopher medal when he was killed on Good Friday. Eight days later, I handed the medallion to his mother. I didn't know Chance before he died. Today, I miss him.

    Excellent, excellent find. Thank you...

That series of articles in the Rocky Mountain News won Jim Sheeler the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing and Todd Heisler the Pulitzer for Feature Photography.

    Well earned....

Thanks for sharing that one Devil Dog, once a Marine, always a Marine. I think that is one reason I love the fire service, the brotherhood in the Corps is allot like the brotherhood in the fire service. Thanks to all of our Vets, God bless you all.

    Unhappy Semper Fi

Wow.... This humidity is making my eyes water. That was well done, and a very good post.

Semper Fi to all the Devil Dogs out there, and Good night Chesty Puller where ever you are, please welcome our fallen Devil Dogs into your Battalion of Honorable Marines.
