i was talking to a buddy the other day and he was trying to talk me into buying a leather helmet. he said that if i do get one, have it custom fitted for me. the only thing is that he wasnt sure where you could have this done. i think that i read about this in a past forum, i just cant remeber when or where. so i guess my question to you is, is where is their someone that custom fits leather helmets? do they just measure you and then they tell the factory that is the size they want, do they mod it so it fits right? i was just wondering. thanks

The Old Cairns 5A's "New Yorkers" (no impact cap)from startup to about or around the 70's were sized. Then they started making them in 3 adj sizes...sm,med,lg.....Then came the N5A's of the 80's with an impact cap with the same sizing. At some point in the 90's the small size was dropped and later after that came the ratchets. you may be able to find one of the old 5A's on ebay or in an auction, but getting approval to wear it may be tough unless your job doesn't care. Good luck and hope this helps.
