    Default career question

I was just wondering if it were possible to join a FD HAZMAT team without actually being a firefighter.

feel free to curse me out.

Nope! FF first, Hazmat 2nd. However, you can get on county hazmat teams with a hazmat tech cert. Harris County Hazmat comes to mind and if you have ff hours to the equivalent of the Texas Volunteer FF's and FireMarshall's advance certification you can challenge the Texas Commission on Fire Protection's Basic FF's test and become certified and then apply for most career jods here. Good luck.

Like the others posted.....HAZMAT Team - Yes; FD HAZMAT Team - No. Most FD MAZMAT Teams members are firefighters first and hazmat only when called on to mitigate a hazmat incident.
Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)

Aggressive does not have to equal stupid.
