    Default Fire Scene Respirators

Hello there, my department is looking at purchasing respirators for our investigators to use while digging during the on-scene origin & cause investigations. Currently all investigators are issued SCBA for IDLH atmospheres, but we are looking for something less bulky to protect the investigators from particulate matter that exists at fire scenes. Any recommendations on particular brand of respirators or departmental SOP's to use as an example and guideline for our department would be appreciated. Thanks.

We use Dragar SCBA, and they gave us an adapter kit that allows us to pop a particle respirator cartridge (several types) on our regular masks.

That is what we use for investigations, and it doubles as a useful tool for cold smoke training.
Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!
