Default Firefighter saying that I hate

"Policemen take lives, Firemen saves them"

Anyone just hate that saying?? Even as a joke it always makes me want to punch the guy who says it. I don't even see how that is funny or a cool. To me it's so disrespectful, I see it as like saying N***** to a black guys face. Maybe it's because my dad is a cop, or that I have wanted be a cop, I don't know. I just had to get that off my chest and see what everyone else thinks.

    Never heard that one before.

Cops save plenty of lives, last time I checked. Through reaping the impossible-to-measure benefits of prevention, it could easily be argued they save more lives than we do.

All smack talk between the services aside, I have great respect for LEOs. Fighting fire and picking up broken bodies is a piece of cake compared to the crap they go through.

I think you made this up to see what kind of reaction you would get.

Just my 3 cents worth.. Captains have to pay a little more!

Guess there are alot of sayings that I don't know or pay attention to.

I always liked "Paramedics save lives. EMTs save paramedics."

    Two I never cared for-

"I fight what you fear" and "Paramedics save lives. EMTs save paramedics". (Sorry Ryan)

The less lame sayings we have, the better.

I didn't make it up, infact it was either on one of these forums that I heard about it. One kid was being hassled by some cops at his academy or station or something and he said that to them. I think it was on this forum or it may have been american-firefighter.com. Either way that was awhile ago and I just saw it again yesterday on a firefighters group on Myspace.com I'll link you guys.

Scroll down to Kevin L. They seem to all enjoy that little saying.

That's alright. It's something I like but I don't have a shirt or anything. There are worse ones out there.

    Never heard it. EVER.

This may come as a real shock. But not everyone wants to be a firefighter.
