    Lightbulb Truck v. Engine

Okay firehouse, this post is the battle of the companies. The company with the most replies will win the battle of the companies. I'd personally say Truck, but what about you? Which company has the better skills, brains, physical ability, jokes? Is it Truck, who works so hard to cut in and rescue victims? Or is it engine, who stretches his/her hose to the limits? Who will win the battle of the companies? Let the battle begin. Be safe. May the tougher company win!

    Question Start Over??...............

Since there is far more to life that Engines and Trucks, Can this poll be modified slightly? Add a few more catagories such as Squad, Hazmat, Brush, Ambulance, Medic, None of the Above, etc.

My personal opinion would be Squad (Heavy Rescue to some of you) We have the Tools, Technology, Talent, and Teamwork to do it all. And do it better that the rest.

There is no competition at all..

Trucks, engines, ladders, squads, etc. are all on the same team, there is no battle at all, the way I see it.

The truck is the FIREMEN'S friend.

Truckies open the doors, open the windows, and even open the roof. Truckies get the civilians out of the way so the Firemen can put the FIRE out. And once a year the ENGINE hosts Medal Day for the poor truckies. Not everyone can have so much fun like the ENGINE

Well you have to admire the truckie's balls. They work above the fire, with little-to-no water, in the worst conditions.

    But,

If there was no Engine, the fire just won't get put out.

It is sort of like the Air Force vs the Army. The Air Force does a lot of good, and makes a good show of it, but without the grunt on the ground, the war cannot be won.

Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!

    This is too easy:
    They work above the fire
While the engine works IN the fire.

with little-to-no water, in the worst conditions
Nothing nastier than a fire once you throw water at it

    Edge: ENGINE

you gotta think that most departments dont operate a full truck company. Most have quints.... which to me should have its own category in the poll since they do both.

But in my opinon it depends where you work at. Take a high rise for example. Truckies run in their with long pike poles where as the engine crew has to lag hose up there.

But during a crack house fire, they get up on this unstable and house thats falling apart to cut a hole in the roof. But then again, its just as bad being inside when its not on fire

I'm going with my fellow knuckledraggers on this one. I'm mean..if the waterboys are THAT good how come they need 50 Engine companies compared to only 18 Trucks in my Dept.?

We used to have shoving contests with towboats to decide which boat was stronger.Usually, someone nefarious rapscallion would cheat and spray a can of starting fluid into the intakes when the engines wound up.Funny how that always seemed to be the boat I was standing on.

Don't forget:The Navy carries the Marines to kick in the door so the Army can come ashore and take cover. ;D
Seriously, though we are all the same team(we better,it makes the job easier with more skills and muscles)it is fun to hear what folks think is best.
I was a volunteer and until the call came in and we knew which part of the district it was,we wouldn't know if we were first in and got to be the engine or second due and get to do the truck work.
Like I said,it takes all of the skills that each rig carries to do the job.

Man, neck and neck at 18 to 18! I went for truck, just because the appartus is, in my not so humble opinion, sexier. Can't beat a 100ft Pierce on a Dash chassis.
