    Default RIT Team Requirements...

    For those departments that havea RIT Team.. What are your members training requirements, what kind of equipment do you need? And what are your RIT SOP's?

    Ours:

    1. Documented completion of a state certified Firefighter I program or 3 years
    documented firefighting experience and documented completion of Firefighter I
    Module 2 (SCBA),
    2. Documented completion of a certified firefighter self-rescue course (i.e. – Get Out
    Alive or similar course),
    3. Documented completion of a certified Rapid Intervention Team course, and
    4. Passage of a fitness test (40th percentile Cooper standards: pushups, situps, run)

    Our Equipment (Short List):
    RIT Bag
    a) 45 minute bottle w/ regulator and mask (no air pack tab to attach to air pack lock)
    b) Strobe light
    c) Spring loaded side cutters
    d) Trauma scissors
    e) 7mm round rescue rope for dragging victims, 4.5’ length
    f) Chemical Glow sticks
    RIC BAG
    a) Contains the RIT bag
    b) 75’ rope throw bag
    c) Bolt cutters
    d) A drag or carry tarp designed to lift people “rescue tarp”
    e) Pliers, box cutter, vice grips, screw drivers, flashlights and channel locks
    f) Door wedges, strobe light

    Circular saw w/ rescue blade
