    Default Funding from neighboring dept.?

Any volunteer departments out there who receive funding from a neighboring department that you cover for because of their lack of manpower?

If so how did it come about? I.E. Did your department approach them? Did they offer the funding? ………….?

I WISH! Approx. 60% of our calls are mutual aid, 95% of that numbers is to one department, due to lack of manpower. We failed to get additional funding from govt resources and the dept. did not have any money to give.

Our solution: Change mutual aid policy. We no longer automatic aid and only send 1 apparatus for mutual aid.

Nonesuch here. Closest I have heard is small towns shutting down their FD's and contracting with neighboring cities.
