Default Fifa World Cup 2006 Germany

Only two more days until kickoff in Munich. I can hardly wait. I am 1/2 German and 1/2 American. Grew up for my first 16 years in Germany. Some of the games are being played in Frankenstadium where I watched the 1.FC Nuernberg play. Got my TiVo set on record for all the German and the USA games. Wondering if anybody else is following the World Cup this year. I know that the American crowds are usually not that big of fans of the True Football. But maybe the brothers from overseas are watching. Best luck to all the nations.

    GO DEUTSCHLAND
    Go USA

With luck the Capt will let me out early tomorrow so that I can head over to the German Embassy and watch the game. I can almost taste the beer now....

I have to say that I have played soccer since I was a kid and love the sport. I was sickened by the theatrics of the players in the last World Cup trying to draw a penalty. I hope things are different this year.

Well its all over. Italy won, but Germany had a very good showing. 3rd place in a tournament where only about 6% of Germans thought we would go past the Round of 16. Best Young Player, Golden Shoe, maybe even a Golden Ball. Proud of my boys.

I somehow find Penalty kicks insulting.

Ref: OK guys, its been 120 minutes, why can't anybody win.
Player: Ref, there is to many people here, everytime I shoot the ball, someone stops it.
    R: But that is soccer.
P: How can I score when there are 5 guys between me and the goal.
R: Okay, Okay, since you guys can't make any shots, we will just move everybody out of the way, you can stand 11 meters in front of the goal and take a shot.
P: Thats easy, anybody can do it.
R: The goalie gets to stay though.
P: Thats not fair, riot, riot.
