I agree with Bullitt and the French Connection.

Today, Gone in 60 seconds has some sweet chase action too, and Ronin was a favorite of mine.

I forget which Dirty Harry movie.... but I loved the chase where they're being pursued by a high-speed R/C car (which is also a bomb).

    Steve McQueen, the Getaway

I think that was one of the very first chase movies that I can remember watching as a young lad.

It was Dead Pool. That was pretty good but my favorites have to be,

    Smokey and the Bandit and,

I like the final chase of "Gone in 60 Seconds". But it just hurts to see that sweet Mustang get so tore up.

What about Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Millenium Falcon being chased through the Death Star (I know, not really a car, but still a great scene, and yes I know my nerd is showing)

Other honorable mention: Blues Brothers, any random episode of Dukes of Hazzard.

And BTW: Post 100, one small step for mankind, one giant leap for ME!

Duh again.....Second version of The Getaway with Alec Baldwin and Kim Besinger has a pretty good chase scene with lots of gun fire.

PLUS- Kim gets very nude a couple of times. Worth seeing.

Then I can't believe you wouldnt put the original "Gone in 60 Seconds"

With a 38 minute chase scene in a movie that is 98 minutes long, I think it is worth noting. Many of the chase scenes were filmed in Buffalo on what is now the 190 and 290.

I concur...."Gone in 60 Seconds" should be duly noted.

Here's another film that's worth mentioning....

    "Vanishing Point"...

    From www.idmb.com

Kowalski, the hero of the story, works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to Frisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar and you've got a great cult hit from the early 70's.
