Default Chiefs Report 6-06, price wrong?

In this months Fire Apparatus magizine , in the Chiefs Report. They profile a pumper from Gross Ille Michigan. It was built by KME.
They said the truck cost $611k.
Does anyone think this is a little high for such a truck?

For a K-Mart Express I would think so, unless it has every imaginable bell and whistle on it.

$611,000...a mere pittance...Middletown, New York (NOT on Long Island BTW) bought a pumper-tanker last year (was on display at all the major shows including FDIC where I caught a glimpse of it)..believe it was a KME also and it cost $810,000!!!! Supposed to have every convenience you could think of...of course, I couldn't get close enough to it to see them....

DAMN...and they say we spend too much money here on Long Island...we don't have any $800K engines I can guarantee that...

    Just my 2 cents...Stay Safe....

Looking at what other apparatus cost, it make you wonder if KME was even close to the lowest bidder.

Was that pumper-tanker like the one from Mechanicstown? It had every option and even had a rear steering tag axle. Im still not convienced that a truck in that price range is necessary.
I hope they dident spec spinners for the wheels.
