Every morning about 7:am, the firefighters from down the block come to the local grocery store and buy about $90 worth of food, which I assume they cook up that day. They always take the huge fire truck. What's up with that? Is that OK? Is it practical? Or is it just "fun"? Seriously, the station is TWO BLOCKS from the grocery store. Why not take a car? Or walk?
Also, since I assume those guys eat that chow each day, and since every fireman and EMT I've ever seen is way muscular and buff, I'm wondering how you guys stay so fit.
Thanks
Chools

Sorry Fred, but I'm curious where this guy is going with this.
well, I'm guessing, and only guessing here, but they probably take the huge fire truck so if they get a call while shopping, they can instantly hop back on said truck and respond to the call. if they took a car, or walked, it would increase their response time.

Um, dude, are u some kind of freaking idiot? As mentioned before, probably because if they get a call they can hop in the rig and respond, instead of having to go all the way back to the station and then responding. In the words of Carlos Mencina...du du DUH!

What is a CHOOL- SERIOUSLY ONLY TWO BLOCKS. What's up with you being concerned and question why they take the rig with them, if they walked would that make you happy. Then if your house was on fire or someone had a medical emgergency that took them 10 min to respond then your next concern would be why did they walk when they should have taken the rig so they respond without delay. MOVE ON. We are professionals making professional decisions for the community. So what they go to the store. Are you in the fire service ?

Nothing is up with that...What's up with that? Is that OK? Is it practical? Or is it just "fun"? Seriously, the station is TWO BLOCKS from the grocery store. Why not take a car? Or walk?
Yes its ok
Yes its very practical
It may be fun
Whats the difference if they take their rig or a car its still driving
Walk? and get wet when it rains yeah right
AND another thing just because someone eats everyday doesnt not mean they are going to get fat automatically. I'm sure they arent just buying chips and candy....ands its all working out and if your that concerned next time you go there and see them why dont you just ask them yourself...He probaly cares so much because when he could be doing nothing at work he has to ring up their ''90 dollars'' worth of food...NEVER FORGET!

This is the same guy who posted in the EMS forum and asked one day how to write a letter to "thank the EMT's" and then the next day, posted to ask if their care was proper....

For me, the worst part of this thread is. This idiot is from Houston. This is the type of guy that would say it took us 30 minutes to get on scene when in reality it took 3 minutes.
Hey Chool Tell you what. why don't you go to the store for the guys and buy the food for them. Seeing they have to spend 24 hours at the station and you seem to have nothing better to do. I'm sure they would be thankful for your help
Oh Chool just one last question HOOD OR NO HOOD
Sorry guys having to much fun with that….lol"DON'T GO IN THERE!!! DON'T YOU KNOW THERE IS A FIRE IN THERE!!!!"

But I'm worn out. I'm used to getting beaten up on the cop forum, and it hasn't happened here yet (somehow, I think you medical people are much more civil than the LE people), but why press my luck? Think I'll hold off for now.
