    Question Ohhh The Excitment

Much excitment around the O'le Embassy today. Headed out for a noon hour stroll only to come upon E3, Chinatown pulling up on C Street behind the Embassy. Since it was in my general line of travel, I move up a bit to see whats going. We have a small park out side the building and there are all sorts of characters hanging out around there, so I figure its an EMS call.

Nope. At the base of one of the statues, there a pile of yellow powder. Without getting closer than about 20 feet - I let the driver do the walk-around, it looked from that distance, similar to sulfur. Well I 180 and go up towards the National Art Gallery across the road - its safer, right?

Ya ok. Sure. Outside the Gallery is another pile the yellow stuff, which I nearly step in because of a car that decided it was bigger than me, and I was paying more atttention to the car than the sidewalk.

Then some more good stuff. Up on Jefferson Street at 4th, there is this nice look'n Li'l Red Mack ladder truck. Looks like about 1946ish. So I start to wander over, but the engine cranks over, and he pulls away. By the time I figure how to work the camera feature on my cell phone (I just got it a few days ago) he is gone. Around this time there are more sirens, and another engine races past on 7th Street. Methinks is time to head back to the Embassy before things go hugely sideways.

By the time I hit the Embassy, E104, HAZMAT and a BC have arrived. I figure this is a good time to pass on that there is more yellow stuff in the area, so I go talk to the BC. As it happens, he is peripherally aware of that, and advises that they are about to "take a reading" of whatever this stuff is. Good for me, I head back to the building. Time to get off the street while the "getting" is good.

Now I am waiting for our resident Military Policemen to announce that we are in lock-down till further notice. (I dont really expect that to happen, but "This is the District"......

Ahhhh life in the District is never dull.

Latest update from some of my workmates: The HAZMAT guys are all running around in "bunny suits" taking samples.... wonder if they ate their carrots today?

And PKFPD7505, you'd be welcome to come play with these guys, I'm sure. My only current concern is that they find this stuff really is bad news and we get locked in the building till they clear it. Its not a great amount, but the stuff is all over the place, I saw in at least 3 different locations, besides outside the Embassy.

Well now, its funny you should mention "cow pies". The theme this year is about the province of Alberta and its oil fields. Since Alberta is considered to the be "Cow" Capital of Canada, and the home of the Calgary Stampede and big skies and cowboys etc..... I imagine there'll be some cow pies flying around somewhere.

Better make sure you're wear'n your Schitt Kickers that weekend.

Oh, wait a minute.... I stand corrected.

    You mispelled it twice. The title AND your first sentence. Not that anyone is counting...... I just needed to correct myself. ;

Well, I headed out at about 1500 for my daily PT around the Mall, they had all packed up and gone home. However, when I wandered past the National Art Gallery, where I had seen a spot of the yellow stuff earlier, it was all cleaned up, as was around the statue area too. And since the Embassy security staff made no announcements or anything like that, I guess safe to say it was just "Another Day in the Neighbourhood".

I didn't realize you worked down there. We make a trip down to the mall almost every tour for PT or other good reasons. When you see a truck that bends in the middle with a 4 on it, flag us down.

You Betcha. What time do you guys usually go down? I've been trying to get out there for a walk at noon, and then a run (well mostly) around 3.

Ian, when I came across the third and fourth exposures (I guess you could call em) I started to wonder. I received a pm that suggested a running club may have used coloured flour or corn starch as route markers. Considering some of the locations that I found the stuff at later, pretty much all around the Mall, particularly adjacent Jefferson Street, that idea made a lot of sense.

hahaha. Your not gonna get off so easy.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't you Major in English?

I totally understand the first time getting excited when you mispelled twice. Been there done that.

But what do you have to say for yourself about the second time when you missed the "definition" of Excrement? or did you?

    Were you still excited? Wow!
