I should have asked this question different, I know to always use a streight stream on an interior fire attack. Direct, indirect, or combo attack it doesnt matter, you always use a streight stream.

I was watching some firefighting videos on youtube and watched a firefighter enter the front door of a houes fire with a fog stream, and I wanted to know how many people out there do this?

A straight stream hitting the seat of the fire is a preferred method used by many.

Many fire fighters including myself use a sweeping fog pattern to knock down fire in bedrooms and other rooms that have heavy involvement with limited venting. This method can extinguish the fire quickly with minimal water damage.

Try this in a larger highly heated open room and you'll find yourself having an interesting experience with the upper layers of heated gasses that are pushed down on you in combo with the steam.

That is exactly why we are taught to not use a fog pattern on an interior attack, it causes a disruption of the thermal layering and creats to much steam which = bad conditions for firefighters and vics

We use a fog pattern at about 20 Deg fog. Some use straight some use fog, depends on the conditions really, ventilation, size of structure, contents, and what your desire is. Now who has the trout.....

Fog is what we drive through in winter to get to the fire. A stream of water is what we use to put it out.

I thought a stream was where we caught the trout. Oh, never mind, I have a headache now.

What about lakes? I've caught trout in lakes before...
