All fun aside, I hope all is well in Flatlander Country.

NORWALK, Ohio -- Parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania were a soggy mess of flooded basements, downed trees, flooded roads and flooded basements Thursday after powerful storms blew through overnight.

Toledo, Ohio, wound up with 5 inches of rain in just five hours. About an hour away, the city of Norwalk, Ohio, was split in two by floods. Up to 800 homes were flooded from Norwalk to London, Ohio, according to WEWS-TV in Cleveland.

Midway between Toledo and Norwalk, a hospital lobby was flooded. Both cities had to send rescue workers out -- sometimes in boats -- to rescue stranded residents.

Up to 8 inches of rain fell in Huron, Erie, Ottawa and Lucas counties, according to WEWS-TV meteorologists. Flood warnings continued Thursday across the region.

In addition, most of Huron County, Ohio, is flooded. Huron County commissioners and Norwalk Mayor Sue Lesch declared a state of emergency.

Nearby Medina, Lorain and Wayne counties have offered aid, WEWS-TV reported.

Lesch called the flooding in Norwalk the worst since a dam broke there in 1969. Floodwaters reached as high as the top of playground equipment in parts of the city, and an estimated 20 homes were evacuated.

Several business and cars were also flooded. Traffic in Norwalk was at a standstill, and only rooftops could be seen sticking out of the water in some places (see slideshow, above).

No injuries were reported, but firefighters and police were battling fatigue after working around the clock, Lesch told WEWS-TV. Sewer backup was also causing health concerns, the station reported.

Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania, a Pittsburgh apartment building fire was blamed on a lightning strike. No one was hurt, but about 2,000 people in western Pennsylvania were without power.

Storms in Michigan produced at least two tornadoes. No injuries or serious damage are reported, but about 40,000 people lost power.

I'll tell you what happened to Josh-- his usuall *****-punching. The power went out, so his sump pump quit. Sump pump quits and he ends up with a foot of water in his finished basement.

And of course, the insurance company is claiming it's flooding so they probably won't cover it. Then they get the multiple-injury-two-critical CO poisoning. Then the semi roll-over on the Interstate. All this with no sleep for the last 24 hours.

I don't know who that poor guy ******ed off in a previous life, but I sure hope I don't do it....

Thanks for the update Jay. Even I noticed he was kinda quiet recently. If ya hear from him locally, give my regards and best wishes with the flooding. That just sucks. And then some nasty calls thrown in on the pile.

I knew of the CO calls and rollover, but didnt know about the basement.....that may be why Josh did not answer his phone when I called him 10 minutes ago. Rossford was hammered last night....I was stuck up at the station until 1030 last night as we had drill then the tornado sirens went off. It was a nuthouse. One of the explorers that lives 20 min from the station took over 2 hours to get home. Flash flooding was pretty bad around here too. In my backyard I have about 20" of water covering most of it. On the way home last night I drove through several sections of road with at least 6" of water from overflowing creeks and low spots. Mutual aid was called numerous times from neighboring jurisdictions as well. So in short it has been pretty crazy lately, and more storms are predicted for tonight. I dont think that they will be as bed, but storms none the less.

Just make him a temporary member for when he is in town...................on second thought he is probably in no condition to respond to anything when he is in Hinckley.....and the man deserves it.
