Probably where they grind up grain. There's a lot of dust; can be very dangerous.

Ok yeah thats what I was thinking, but was hoping for clarification such as..." we are not allowed on resposes to the local grain elevator/silos/mill due to danger of possible grain dust explosions"

Trust me MichaelD77, remember the grain elevator fires last July up here in the big ol' City of Toledo?? I was right across the river. My dad's friend was driving by at almost the exact instant they went up and he thought that we got hit by a Russian ICBM or something and was waiting to be vaporized.

Yeah, that was a hell of a fire, didn't they call in the 180th for that?. Seems like there's been more of those these past few years.

you guys out in OH seem to have very lenient rules with being a junior firefighter and all. here in NJ we are basically there for education purposes. we can be exterior, but in no way are we to operate SCBA or hurst tools.

Gee RFRD...That took you what 5 minutes to find??? Simply amazing

My depts limitations are pretty s**t simple....No interior and no medicals unless its only you and one other person who arrives at the hall....Even then...You stay at the truck until they need assistance bringing the Pt. out
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

Here in SoCal, its all about how much Ice Cream you brought to the station that morning :-P (J/K.) Being an explorer, I assist the paramedic as a go-getter. If my Engine/Truck Co. is assigned to interior attack or ventilation, they'll send the explorers to the Engine in charge of R.I.C., REHAB, or sometimes the IC to help the Battalion Chief with Coffee Pouring or something. Oh, I also help out with SCBA Bottle changing.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh, what makes you think that? Actually, we are very far from it. And you cannot throw every junior program or explorer post in the state into one category.

Im the Only Junior FF in out department to...I don't even think we have a Junior or Cadet Program. Basiclly all I am allowed to do is Chill at the fire hall. I can respond to the Station on a call but not allowed to ride a truck. Im pretty much the Station Bit*h. Its fun tho, you learn alot and there a bunch of great guys.

    LACoFD:
I'm Here in Riverside City, as an explorer. Yeah pretty much the same thing. Most of the Captains in Riverside dont have really big egos like in LA (J/K) so they really like to have you around. I just rolled up to a commercial structure fire a couple weeks ago and I went inside the building because the AC was on fire. I got an attic ladder and we went on top of the roof, used the Thermal Imaging Camera, and it was really alot of fun. Oh, By the way, would you happen to know an Explorer/Advisor by the name of Greg Stine? he was my Ex-Chief ( He was the man!)

You might want to post this on the main forum, most of us here are juniors/explorers, meaning that quite of few (not all by any means) are still in high school.
(although some of the older members float in and out, trying to re-live their younger days i think )
