    Arrow FDNY Joining Process?

So ive searched around the board but cant find exactly what im looking for.

I am very seriously considering becoming a career FF in Ny, Current I am 18 years old and just graduated high school. I am on volunteer departments and am certified in new jersey. Currently I am planning on attending a four year college out of state in august. I have looked throught the FDNY webstie many times but still find myself confused. Im assuming that i would have to complete the written test in december of 06 and then take it from there? a discription about the actual process would be greatly appriciated, I am trying to take the right steps from now to avoid a setback in the furute.

    Thanks in advance

The FDNY test is this October/November. The application period is not yet announced but you can watch the site below for the announcement.

Good luck and start getting those college credits.

Also consider going to school (and becoming a city resident) in NYC....it adds 5 points to your final score, and or join the military, an additional 5 points. Start getting in great shape now, it will help, if you make it to the agility. Stay out of trouble....prior arrests can disqualify you. It is a VERY competitive exam (usually 25,000 to 30,000 applicants)... you must take decisive action now and be very determined now, to stand a chance.

    Default Age

If I remember correctly there is a lower age limmit to take the FDNY test. You should check that out. I know it is on their site somewhere!

DO NOT post stupid cr@p on myspace. In fact, if you have anything posted there; take it off!
Be patient, it's a long process.
Don't feed into or spread rumors. That's all they are; rumors.

Follow along on the current FDNY 2006 thread. Lots of info is filtered through here.

    Good luck,
Read the department website again. A lot is in there. You just have to read it.
