    Default SAFER application # count

Just had a department that I wrote for submit their SAFER, they were a little over 4100, and I wondered if anyone else was interested (besides me!) how high it will go tomorrow? So, if anyone would like to post their app. # so we can all see where we wind up...feel free. Best of luck to everyone!

I finally pulled the trigger on 4119 at approx 2210 CDT. We're in the "slow section" of Indiana. Or "slower section"--depends on your perception of Hoosiers.

How many applications were there last year?
EDIT--2,954 if my count is correct from the 2005 application statistics area of the firegrantsupport site.

A little after 7 AM (EST) and the website is DOWN...trying not to panic. (Talking myself off the ledge)...deep, clensing breaths....have two that are 80-90% done....jeez.

Can we hope it's just routine service, and will be back up in an hour or so?

A quick word to the wise. Washington DC was flooded pretty bad during last 48 hours and many government websites and servers were knocke dout as a result. The GMS server has been sproadic all last night. I am awaiting 8:00AM to call fiegrant support and see what if anything is being done and or what their game plan is if the server is down for those reasons. I will try to get a message posted as soon as I learn something.

Looks like they're on pace for 4700 to 4800, about a 60% increase over 2005. It will be interesting to see the final stats on distribution of the requests.

Well, I guess the fat lady sang. Any last minute laggers out there with a final count yet? As Alan Jackson says " It's 5:00 Somewhere" and that is here and I hear Mr. Jack calling my name. Adios Amigos, "keep it between the navigational beacons" and I am, for all practical purposes, " No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problems" till Wednesday! CYA! Good Luck to all applicants!

We were 4593 with just over 2 hours to go. It looks like there were about 100 apps an hour for those of us in the home stretch.

Around $104 million for awards after admin costs were taken out of the $110 million appropriated.

10% of the awards must go to all or mostly all volunteer departments for R&R.

At least 3-4 months before anything would move. The computer has to score them, then Peer Review, then Tech Review. The same folks handle all 3 grant programs so they have AFG 7 FP to deal with on top of everything else.
