Hey Mcaldwell
If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over? (Hall of Fame basketball player/coach John Wooden)

Hey Rick,
I haven't heard the call yet, but our local fire base sent some personnel in the last few days. There are 4 fires now with reportedly well over 10,000 Hectares burning around there right now, and no relief in the forecast for a while anyway.
We have been fortunate so far here in the southeast, but our area is drying out quickly now. We had such a wet spring that we are still only seeing a moderate rating, but that will likely change by the weekend unless we get some more rain.
I just returned from Ontario on a road trip, and we could see heavy smoke from Alberta and the Northern Saskatchewan fires as far away as Kenora, Ontario (2500+ km's).Never argue with an Idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!

EEK I know where you were very well. That is incredible for that kind of visibility... although maybe not so incredible.... after all we are talking about FlatLander Countrywe could see heavy smoke from Alberta and the Northern Saskatchewan fires as far away as Kenora, Ontario
But still to see anything over 2500km is pretty bad.
Hope all goes well for everyone concerned out there. If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over? (Hall of Fame basketball player/coach John Wooden)

I've been meaning to post about it the past 2 days, but just plain ran out of time. I'll post a few articles now for you guys to check out.
I just caught the tail end of the news when I came home and heard that it wasn't as bad as originally thought, I'm sure I heard 35%-45% contained. But I didn't hear which fire they were talking about, so they could have been referring to Sask or the Hourglass one.
This morning's news was that there was a call-out, for "specialists" though.
Alberta has called in more firefighters from BC, Ontario and Quebec.September 11th - Never Forget
I respect firefighters and emergency workers worldwide. Thank you for what you do.
