Unless I missed something, ground hasn't been broken yet.

It will be in Institute Park, but more specifically between Worcester Fire Headquarters at 141(?) Grove Street and Salisbury Pond -- basically where the woods are behind the training tower behind their HQ. Ladder 2 and Engine 3 responded to the fire from this station.

The site of the fire is 266 Franklin Street -- I don't even have any idea what ramps are open currently due to construction on I-290. Once you're in the general area, soon as you go to pass under I-290, you'll see the Kenmore Diner, and the site is immediately behind it (the current Kenmore had to be rebuilt -- it survived the fire, but not the demolition). That's where the memorials have taken place so far.

It was the request of the families not to have the memorial monument at that site.

I haven't been by there on the ground in a while -- the site will be the location for the new station replacing the old Central Station from which Rescue 1 responded. The station was demolished a couple years ago to make way for a hotel now under construction by the Centrum (errrr, DCU Center).

Sorry I haven't been checking lately, but if you are still in the area, and find yourself in Boston, make sure to visit the memorial for the Hotel Vandome fire on Commonwealth Ave.
