    Thumbs up Here's A Start..............

I'd offer several thoughts - I did go thru the whole site.....

    1. Rome wasn't built overnight, and a good website evolves over time as well. Take the time to research your History and add more as you are able.

    2. Where are you? I couldn't get a clue as to where you are located.

    3. It's a bit more difficult for some places, but a page of recent incidents draws attention.

All things considered, you're off to a good start. Our website is also "Home made" and not too bad. If you'd like to take a look, it's www.GDVFD18.com Good Luck.

    JR, Here's a couple more.........
www.Boontonfd.org is the Boonton, New Jersey, FD 's site, and it is an outstanding example of what a FD site can be.
www.PGCVFRA.org is the site for the Prince Georges County, (Md) Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. There are links from there to each VFD in P.G.County. You can probably pick up more ideas from these.
Another excellent... No, make that Award Winning, site is the Silver City VFD in Oklahoma. I'll get the url, and get it up here in a bit.

OK, Here is Silver City's url. An amazing group of people, who could very easily win my "VFD of the year award" if I had one. www.cimtel.net/~killerb will get you there

    I agree.

I had my speakers turned off (normal mode for me, they are turned on only when I want to hear something specific), so I turned them on and listened for a moment. My point is that there is absolutely no way to find music that everyone likes, so why use music in the first place? Of course, everyone else can turn it off like I do.

Well, like the others have said, got to get rid of the music. Makes the site appear cheesy. I personally don't like front pages to be "busy", especially when I have to scroll down to see the page. Think about seperating everything into different pages and having links to them individually (similiar to www.boontonfd.org, which is a great site). Everyone wants to see pictures of some kind, and you had quite a few which is good. I also like the Amber Alert ticker. Should have a page dedicated to the personnel (at least names, and possibly pics). Not to bad of a site overall

Lose the music. Usually people are listening to music or watching tv while surfing and just acts as a distraction. Also I would lose the background image. It also serves as a distraction and using a solid color it will be better for your eyes to focus on the images and fonts. Also on the past incidents it would be better if you would put links to the seperate incidents because that would allow your pages and images load faster. Also for the Apparatus in Action Pictures I would put a thumbnail image for the picture so the websurfer could click on the picture and enlarge it him or herself. This creates faster page loading and easier for the user to pick which photos they would like to see.

If you have any question e-mail me at alan.franklin@rafpd.org

Also if you want you can check out our web page: http://rapfd.org
Which isn't nearly the way I would like to see it be, but I haven't had the time to commit to it like I would.

What i've learned in webdesign over the years that less is more. Keep it simple, focused and easy to read. I kept it clean esepcially on the home page in order to make things easy to find. The links in the center of the page are easy to change and I can modify each one and point it to another page to give more detail about news or an event. The calender is just for training purposes mainly and events, which speaking of... i need to update everything. http://www.warriorriverfd.net

    Default Music?

Good looking website, but you have got to get rid of the music.
