What up peeps? Are there any experts out there that have knowledge of the fabrics turnout gear is made of? I mean in the form of colors..Is black more beneficial to use than khaki, or vice versa? I learned of a debate brewing at a local fire department over what color their gear would be. The deputy chief wants to change it to black, however, their are a few officers that want to keep it the same color...khaki. Mostly over visibilty and heat absortion issues, as how I understood it. In my opinion, the only thing that makes either one of them visible, is the reflective tape, sewn into the fabric...regardless of what color it is. I would think the black would absorb more radiant heat, unless their is something I don't know, which is why I am asking. Any thoughts?
