OK, just got a solid offer to go there as a medic.

Has anyone been there? Any info to share. I have 3 weeks.

I was there as a US Marine during the invasion. It is a interesting place, not as bad as Iraq but still dangeous. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter.....and not much left after 30 years of war.

I am contracting with DynCorp...I have already done one previously with them in South East Asia.....

I am just trying to get the lowdown on people who have been there as a medic in the past few years.

Afghanistan is not bad. If you are going to work with DynCorp, then you are going over to work on travel teams out into timbuktu land. I feel for you. The conditions are not that great until you get back to the base areas, which I am thinking will in the Kabul area.

I would choose Afghanistan over Iraq any day. But being with Dyncorp there is no safe bet there. I was at Bagram AB and I thought it had some lovely scenery for the country. Since I have seen both an afghy gig is the way to go. Good luck!
