Hi all I am considering joining the Air Force as a firefighter. I have read all oh the posts I can find and many have been helpful. Can someone give me a list or tell me where to find one about the best bases to try to get on if they give you options? I had a friend that was stationed at Robins AFB in Georgia and he loved it but he didnt know anything about the FD. Any info would greatly be appreciated on this and if you have any other advice for someone considering this I would be glad to accept it.
Thanks

There isnt really a site that gives you the run down of all the bases. You would have to talk to a recruter

It all depends on who you talk to. For one person, it could be the best base in the world, but to some one else it could be the worst. Do you want a base that has the most runs?? Do you want a base that is near a big city?? Do you want a base that you can hunt and fish on??
There are so many options and besides, the AF will send you where they need you!! Good luck in your plans and take care.Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)
Aggressive does not have to equal stupid.

Been to Robins, but not as a FF. The town Warner-Robins is a small town, not to far from Macon. Not much going on there, but if your into small towns I guess it would be a good place.

You stationed at Nellis? I am stationed here as a AMMO troop. My class date at Goodfellow is 13 November. Is this a good base for Fire Fighters? Seems like all the FF's I have spoken to here seem to love it.

Keep in mind that some stateside bases are all civilian. That dream sheet is also just a dream. You will go where the Air Force needs you. After you do your time somewhere, you get more of a pick of another place to go. Are you doing a 4 or 6 year bit?

If you want a stateside base that will keep you busy, firefighter wise, Shaw AFB is a pretty good spot. Not alot goes on at the base (other than calls for inflight emergencies and false alarms in buildings)itself, but the smokey's here stay quite busy assisting the Sumter County FD off base.

Im stationed there. Its not too bad. Macon is close and ATL is 1 1/2hrs away, but the latest word is that its going all civilian. I think its a bad move but hey, Im just a SRA.
