DOD F&E Services Awards/F-R-I
...has anybody ever been to the annual DoD Fire and Emergency Services Awards Conference before hosted by the IAFCs?

Yep, last year-one of my Marine's won the FF of the Year Award for Heroism. What do you want to know?

FRI is nothing like FDIC. It's all administration and procedures. Don't bother bringing your bunker gear.
There are days of meetings for each service, some DoD-wide sessions, and a couple days that are set aside for the exhibits and IAFC general sessions. The most important thing is to network and meet your counterparts. Make sure you leave with a POC list or attendance roster-it will be invaluable. I saw from your profile you are involved in your training division. I'm sure the AF will deluge you with info on school seats and CDC updates.
Take the time to wander the manufacturer's exhibits. Make sure you check out the booth AFRL usually puts out, you'll see some info about the P-19 replacement they are working on. Last year they also had a TIC that fit inside a helmet above the suspension. Not too mention all the cool options for ARFF rigs and equipment you won't see anywhere else.
The awards banquet is your standard banquet with a small overpriced meal and lots of bigwigs giving speeches. The small meal is probably so they won't see us bust out of our class As. That said, I've been to a couple and they are worth going to. I'm always surprised at some of the things our guys do.
If you want to know more, ask, but that's the basics that I could think of.

Excellent, thanks for the info, gunny. Just curious what kinda stuff goes on. I expect there to be all kinds of meetings and such, but I look forward to it.

I will be wondering around the exhibits myself. Maybe some of us might bump into each other (if we are that clumsy).Just someone trying to help! (And by the way....Thanks for YOUR help!)
Aggressive does not have to equal stupid.
