Better to be ready for something that DOESN'T happen as opposed to being unaware that it might.
Not being on a department currently,I'm sitting this one out.
Best of luck to the responders though.

A bunch of the boys headed down from Fairfax Monday evening and yesterday. Best wishes that other than providing moral support, their hands and gear are not to be required. Sounds like things have been down graded to WET, and thats ok.

^ Where are they headed to? From what it looks like now, your guys wont be needin their gear for this one. Its a good thing the storm isnt any stronger, because instead of being called out this weekend for our county's SAR team, I'll be sittin up at the station in airconditioning. haha

Looks (at least currently) that we're (SC)just gonna get a lot of rain from this. The storm itself doesn't worry me though as much as the potential for tornados to be spun off. Back in '04 we had approx. 30 touch down statewide. On base we had 3 touch down. 1 on the flightline, 1 on the golf course and one through base housing. I bet anyone can guess what got fixed first.

Jonathan, to be honest I am not sure what the deployment orders were, so I have no idea of the final destination other than "somewhere south". With any luck though, they'll be coming home soon. However, we did get a flash flood warning for last night until 2000 (I think) Thursday night. Radio is predicting approx 8 inches in the next 12 hours or so.

Chances are, they will be sent to the east coast. Even more likely that they will be heading right back. Where are you located at? The reason i ask is because we barely got any flood waters down here.

I'm on vacation in Holden Beach close to the North/South Carolina border. I don't know how the locals handle these kind of things on a regular basis, this is not a severe situation and it is very unnerving. the water as moved about 25 feet further up the beach from the normal high tide mark.

VATF1 came back yesterday as well. However the entire region is now under severe flood warnings and they called for additional BLS units to go in service for the next 96 or so hours.
