    Default combination ambulances

    I've seen several new ambulances with CAFS equipment located in a compartment that replaces the extended part of the extended cab. Is this effective. seems heavy and lengthens the the bus's wheelbase. How effective is that sized unit? Ive also seen trimax, dunno what that is.

    also, does anyone use a Braun advance or equivalent rescue/ambulance?

    I know one of the local ambulance companies are switching over to all Braun. They have probaby around 5 or 6 (just guessing there) and I'm not sure which model either. I have heard many of the guys and gals that work in them say they like tham though.

    We currently have 2 Brauns. We really like them. I'm not sure of the model, but if you'd like I could dig into a bit deeper. Let me know!

    I am talking about http://www.braunambulances.com/ I think these are nice rigs, although I do not work in them. And no, I have no connection with the company.

    I am a big supporter of combination apparatus in the right circumstances. HOWEVER, I firmly believe that ambulances should NEVER be set up to put out fires (i.e. on-board suppression systems), and pumpers should NEVER be set up to transport patients.

    I could almost believe that ther are some rare rural situations where little CAFS pumps on ambulances might make sense. Possibly some industrial situations as well.

    I can't imagine that transporting engines are anything but the result of a wierd administrative rule or funding process.

    How about an all wheel drive patient transporting, rescue tool carrying, 2000 gallon, tower quint? That's be an abomination to all that is holy, or at the least, a really bad ambulance.

    i mean the big braun with sloped roofs. The advance is a model that combiles a light rescue with a full box.
