ACFD and Pleasantville FD hire off the same list. ACFD just picked up a bunch of PFD guys, and there are not too many happy campers about it.
ACFD hires off a CITY list. You MUST live in the city of you want serious consideration. Their starting pay is in the neighborhood of 40k a year.
They have 6 houses, with 7 Eng. Co.s, and 3 Ladder Co.s, in addition to I belive 2 HAZMAT/Heavy Rescues. 2 Batt. Chiefs, and a Deputy Chief round it out. I never saw any Lts. just Capts.
They do little EMS with the exception of ALS calls NOT in a casino, or it Exceptional Medical Transportation, who does AC EMS is tied up for a while.
I have nothing but respect for ACFD, and their men. I am proud to say I worked alongside them as an EMT on AC EMS.
Perhaps after Paramedic, and if I move back I will try to get on with them. If yall got any more questions about ACFD, reply or PM me.
I think I have some pics of them in action around here........AJ, MICP, FireMedic

The few records that show 2006 enrollmemts indicate salaries in the 26-27k range. Pretty crummy, but some of the higher paid folks arent doing bad at all.Last edited by MG3610; 12-23-2007 at 05:28 PM.

Atlantic City has a strong union. That is why they have good salaries. I heard they start or will start at 50k. However, the list is very competitive. Veterans control the list and don't think you'll put the application in and be getting hired within the year.
If your thinking AC then live there, truely live there. Train everyday on cardio. If you have the oppertunity, go and practice. AC has a course set up at the guard station and if your testing for AC they will allow you to practice.
