    Default 2006 Afg

This is all we have to show for our 2006 AFG. We are caught up in the ALF "CRAP". New delivery date of may 2008. The really bad thing is our 2007 AFG for gear and SCBA is ready to be closed out.

Hey whats wrong with the lime color? If you notice the new DOT chevrons, they are touting the lime color as being the most visible.

Actually we are adding two more nice Lime trucks to our fleet. My career department has went back and forth from completly red to red with white cabs and now our new truck that we have ordered is back to completly red. If you remember in the early 80's the new color was a pink that Miami Dade had started purchasing that was suppose to be the best for visability. But like was stated above, they always know when we are on scene and who we are.

    Quit looking in my closet!!

Our 2005 AFG for PPE brought red/silver triple trim so our guys would be easy to spot on calls. I was shocked when they voted for the red/yellow tie-dyed hoods, but those stand out in a crowd also. Makes it easier for our officers to tell what's going on.

This is what is going in the back or our 6x6 that we also got with the 2007 grant. Skid unit with 80 gallon tank, Honda high pressure pump, etc.

    Smile Grants

Glad to see all the success stories. Out of the 5 grants my dept has put in, we've been selected for 2. The first was to replace our old SCBA's with MSA units and the second was to outfit our apparatus as well as 4 intersections with opticoms.
For those without the opticoms, I STRONGLY recommend them!!!! A week before they were installed, there was a minor crash as traffic was stopping at a major intersection for our rescue to pass!! Now it's safer for not only us but the general public!!
Good luck, take care, and be safe!!!

They don't make a version that works with stop SIGNS, do they?? All kidding aside, the way sound bounces around city/town streets that system makes a lot of sense. The city near us had a broadside a few months ago with their newest truck--i saw that crash and it was scary.

i dont think there is anything wrong with the lime color but boy do i take a ribing over it. the first unit this color was pur in 1977 from darley chev with 750 pump and tank three stage pump. those where the days. then when i had 1967 alexis front mount retanked i had it panted to match then the #rap realy started. my skin has gotten thik over time and i just look at the and tell them that my dept will always get mentioned in the news report because the can tell we are there. ha

Have two darley's pumper tankers with the front mount pumps, an 84 and 88, and did I mention, they both are lime, as well as an 85' tower and the 06 pierce pumper tanker, and the mack, the mini and the tanker. A lot of people complain about the color, but they don't complain when we roll in to help. I must admit, I do own a 57 Pirsch open cab pumper that is red, was red when I got it and will be red till I give it to my son.
