I need to find time to make a trip your way and see that puppy work (never seen CAFS in action). I'll bring the monitor with me if I ever get the chance.

It's not striped or lettered yet, but here's a couple of shots of our '07 quick attack.

The Chassis is a GMC 5500 4x4 with an 8.1 Vortec and an Allison EVS-1000 automatic. Unruh Fire built the body, which includes a 10kW hydraulic generator and HRT hose reels. The meat and potatoes is a 400 gallon tank with a 31 hp Darley pump (plumbed into the truck fuel tank) with in-cab pump controls. Front bumper has a Warn 16,500 lbs. winch and TFT Tornado turret with joystick controls in the cab.

    Catch,

Sharp vehicle. Looks to be very functional. Good luck with it. Hmmm In-cab controls......front mounted turret=practical joke aka someone is going to get really wet.

    That is sweeeeet!

We just got som info from that outfitt today. Looking for maybe
A little brother of that one.

In cab controls, no one will want to get out of the Air Con, But then again I guess you dont have to.

That turret and the in-cab controls are going to be damn nice when grass fire season hits. The day after we got it home, we had a grass fire. Unfortunately it wasn't in service yet.

We actually gave up a 4-door cab for the turret (no that we really needed the 4-door). The thinking was that the turret is going to save manpower as we don't have to have someone walking beside the truck and someone driving the truck to operate it. If you're going to have a control for the turret inside the cab, you may as well have the pump controls too! It took some looking, but that particular pump was one of the very few we could find that had a remote-mount control panel and a panel at the pump.

It should do us pretty nicely. The turret will drop as low as 15 gpm to save some water on the grass fires and goes as high as 125 gpm if we want to put a decent amount of water on something (car fire, for example).

When I get some striping and lettering done, I'll get a finished picture up.

I don't know how much detail you want, but here's some more...

    2008 GMC 5500 4x4
8.1 Vortec engine, Allison EVS-1000 automatic
    Heated/electric mirrors
Driver's convenience package (had to have for the generator)
    AC
    Factory aluminum wheels (Alcoa)

Unruh Fire out of Sedgwick, KS built the body. It's all aluminum, 12'6" in length.
Harrison 10 kW hydraulic generator with 100' electric-rewind cord reel
2 Hannay 100' HRT hose reels.
    All LED lighting package
Adjustable height shelves in the #2 and #3 compartments both sides
Slide out shelf in the passenger-side #4 compartment (for HRT power unit)
#1 compartment is transverse and has two slide-out shelves (go out either side)
Trunion compartment below the pump (8' deep for Stokes/Backboards)

The pump is a 31 HP Darley (Model 1-1/2AGE31BS-LIQ) with in-cab controls
    400 gallon poly tank.
2 1/2" intake, valved between the tank and pump and on the other side of the pump
    1" and 1 1/2" preconnects
    Additional 1" discharge
TFT Tornado on the front pumper with in-cab joystick control

Total cost was just over $127K. It would have cost us another $4,500-5,000 to have the extended cab (no including SCBA seats) and another $8-10K for a diesel. They build a dressier pump panel, but we wanted simplicity and exchanged it for another shelf or two.

One thing I did like about the construction is that the wall between the back wall of the compartments and the pump area has a 2"x2" frame built behind it. There's sheet aluminum on the back of the compartment, frame, then diamon plate on the inside of the pump/tank trough. This is where they run all the wiring, plus it gives us something solid (the frame) to bolt heavy items we're mounting in the compartments. They also built us a full-height, full-width mounting plate on the driver's side #4 compartment for SCBA (originally they were going to put extruded mounting strips in there).

If you want more detail than that, drop me a PM or something and I'll be glad to share any info you want.

I'll find out on that weight for you. I'll probably throw the truck on the scale at our farm center and find out exactly rather than estimating. I'll also snap some open compartment pictures as soon as I get the chance.

This is what we bought with our 2007 AFG fire prevention grant.
It will be used in conjunction with the county firefighter's safety trailer.

This isn't as fancy as new tools and toys, but it's a start. I'll try to keep updates coming, but here's the beginning of my 2007 SAFER project
