    Default Leather bullard??

So I am on E-Bay looking at some leather helmets and I come across this sale.......http://cgi.ebay.com/Leather-Traditio...QQcmdZViewItem

Could this be a true after market custom, a demo model, possibly not really a bullard, or what.........Not that I like leather covered plastic.......but I just thought it was odd.
Anyone heard or seen this before??

It looks like the matte finish and not truly leather. Bullard came out last year with the matte finish I believe. can anyone confirm what i'm saying?

It's nothing more than a Bullard fiberglass helmet that someone made a soft, thin leather cover for and glued onto it. Pretty good gimmick, basically coming up with a lightweight "leather" styled lid, but I seriously doubt the thin leather skin would hold up very well under fire conditions.

It does look kinda crappy. I imagine that the leather would tear easily. In order for it to form that closely to the fiberlgass shell it would have to be rather thin.

The item description says it all:

You are bidding on a one of a kind genuine leather covered firefighting helmet. This helmet is a standard NFPA Approved Bullard UST Model Traditional Fiberglass Fire Helmet with a custom leather cover bonded to the fiberglass shell.
It ain't NFPA compliant anymore..... (and probably not OSHA or ANSI either)

    For "Leather Head" wanna-be's.

I'd like to see what it looks like after it sees some action.

One good fire would do it in!

The sad thing is that it doesn't even look that good. The covering is bubbled up in some places and looks obviously stretched out and not fitting well in others. Wouldn't even be a nice wall ornament, much less useful for fire duty. Oh yeah, and those reflective stickers are butt ugly as is the faceshield. At least throw some Bourkes on it if you want to wear a wannabe leather lid...and nicer stickers too.

a little heat and that leather bonded may just curl right up on the helmet.
