Default Condolences to Hwoods and Family..

Tried to post this in the Prayer/Non-LODD section...(sorry it's a little late )
It is with deep sorrow that the Glenn Dale Volunteers announce the passing of Retired PGFD LT. and Glenn Dale VFA Life Member Ray Woods. Ray touched so many in the fire service and will be truly missed. We ask that everyone keep the family of Ray in their thoughts and prayers during this time of mourning.

    Arrangements are as follows:
Viewing Thursday 9/28 2-4 and 7-9 Evans Funeral Home. (Race Track Rd and Rt. 450 - Bowie)
F.D. Memorial Service at 8 pm

Funeral Friday 9/29 Evans Funeral Home

Repass at St. Florian Hall (Jericho Park Rd. and Rt. 197)
As I understand, this was hwoods (Chief Harve Woods) brother.
Chief: you, your family, and everyone at Glenn Dale VFD are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and may God bless you all.

    Unhappy Thank You........

Thank You seems such a small thing to say at a time like this, but again, I'm kind of at a loss for words. (I know, a rare event) Ray was my slightly older brother He would have been 69 on Oct. 10th. He was a member of the Glenn Dale VFA for Fifty Five years, starting as a junior at age 14. Concurrently, he was a Career Firefighter and Officer for the PGFD for about Thirty years. (Sharkie pay attention here) He served his country as a Marine, 1954-58, and made Sargeant. Twice. (Long story ) At the Firefighter's Memorial Service thursday evening, and again at the Funeral friday morning, the turnout was, to me, incredible. There seemed to be at least several tons of gold braid all over the place, with people from as far away as Florida. The family joins with me in extending our sincere Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers. There is nothing in the world like the Brotherhood that we of the Fire Service share with one another, may God Bless You All. Stay Safe. Harve

From what you wrote about your brother, his dedication to the fire service was total, and his loss will be felt immensely.
