OK... so this might seem a bit confusing to you, but I've watched the DVD I have and wrote down the tracks/bands as well as what was being shown during the song. Let me know if you're confused by any of this... by the way, this was probably one of the best/coordinated/produced videos I've seen.

    "Die..." - Dope -- Introduction
"Taking Care of Business" - BTO -- Shift change/station maintence/cleaning/etc.
"Welcome to the Jungle" - Guns & Roses -- O/S working fire, fully involved.
"The Rouges of Scotland" - Celtic Bagpipes -- Credits

    Recruit School Video:
    "Back in Black" - AC/DC -- Intro
"Roll Out" - Ludacris -- Hose rolls/deploying hose rolls/rolling hose
    "Da Rockwild" - Method Man & Redman -- Aerial Ladder climb/Ladder carries/raises/leg locks/etc.
"King of the Hill Theme" - The Refershments -- Recruits trying to properly set up large ext. ladder... they were struggling...
"Pump it up" - Joe Budden -- Pump class/training/water fight
"Surfin Bird" - The Trashmen -- Hose wrestling
"Last Resort" - Papa Roach -- Ventilation
    "Rescue Me" - Aretha Franklin -- Search & Rescue/Repelling/Extrication
"Machine Head" - Bush -- Live Burn Training Pt. 1
"Fuel" - Metallica -- Live Burn Training Pt. 2
"The Rouges of Scotland" - Celtic Bagpipes -- Credits

"Wildboys" - Duran Duran -- Medal Day

In our year end slideshow we use George Strait's Fireman, Garth Brooks' Standing Outside the Fire, various tracks from the Ladder 49 soundtrack, some bluegrass, and for the Search and rescue segment -- Johnny Lee's Looking for Love.

How bout' "Animals" by Nickelback. : )Anything from Nickelback should be suffice.

There is great video on bravestonline. Ill find it for ya. I love it. It has the song "Shine your Light" from Ladder 49 on it. That should be a must have song for your video.

Maybe "Only Time" by Enya, for a tribute section of the video.

Ok here is a link to some really great videos with music added. One is particular video has "Animals" in it. If you scroll down to the two story PD and read next to the picture it will say "May 10th, 2006...Huntsville Fire Dept".

But the one I truly recommend because family, friends and FF will be watching and of course it pulls at your heart is this one. It has the song "Shine your Light".

The video from Livingston Fire School in Texas. My Favorite video! Just scroll down till you see "Livingston Fire School".

For some reason it cuts out the last 20 seconds or so, but you get the idea.

I made another for our explorer post but don't wanna mess with posting that on some website cause its not on the dept one.

Actually, I'm hoping it turns out good and I'll post it on Youtube when finished (Academy goes until December)...

    Thanks for the musical selections

One song definitely NOT recommended would be"Don't Tell Me(you didn't say good-bye)"by Travis Tritt for any memorial scenes,if any.

Great suggestions everyone - I'm lucky in that we have several more months of academy so I can get more video footage and choose some good songs.

I'm thinking the video should be about 12 minutes so I can include parts of about six songs. And yes you're correct, since I voluntreered (rather, was volunteered) I need to do it up right.

One question, about playing bagpipe music - I always sort of assumed that bagpipes were for very reverant moments, just wanted to check to see if you all agreed that I can play them over the credits?

Depends on the song the bagpipes are playing...

The Rouges of Scotland" sounded really nice at the end. It's upbeat, etc. I haven't seen any "code" that says bagpipes are only reverent music. Of course, Amazing Grace should ONLY be played during a time of remembrance.

That's my opinion... see what others say.

Well, since the HTML coding doesn't feel like working today, I'll just add some links to some bagpipe music that I think could be used as background music for credits:

    "Reel Again" - The Rouges

    "Guinness Dog" - The Rouges

    "Holy Moly" - The Rouges

"The Rogues of Scotland" - Celtic Bagpipes

"Scotland the Brave" - Celtic Bagpipes

That's a decent start. Some of those clips are only samples of the songs, but it should help give you some idea about the selection out there!

Excellent idea.Do you have an idea of how the credits will look?Dark background as light letters scroll by slowly enough to be read?

I just recently did a powerpoint for my rookie class graduation and used the song "Who Are You?" by The Who and "Running With The Devil" by Van Halen.

The Fireman's Prayer, by Plainfolk. You can hear it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUyuBCi6Hkc

Chorus: Lay me down beside cool water
And lay to rest my body sore
Send the word out to my brothers
The fire is down, let it burn no more

    1) Let me be ready Lord when the call comes in
When the sirens wail and the engines strain
When the smoke is thick and the air is thin
When innocent lives, in the balance hang

    2) I've trained hard Lord and I've learned well
That I'm just one part of a human chain
Though it's been forged in the fires of hell
Still I've known fear oh Lord, and I've prayed for rain

    3) If my brother goes down Lord, let me be near
Won't you let me have what the flames demand
Won't you give him voice, O Lord, and let me hear
And give me the reach Lord, for his outstretched hand

    4) Let me be ready Lord if it comes my turn
Won't you let me be strong, let me not complain
Won't you let me go in and with a child return
Take me young oh Lord, but not in vain

    Chorus
