    Default Cutter's Edge Saw

    Can I just start out saying that I don't like this new format???

    But! Has anyone had problems (or a problem) with the kill switch with the Cutter's Edge brand ventilation saw?

    On Wednesday I experianced the same problem (2 different departments, 2 different saws, 2 different crews) with the kill switch dislodging and falling into the saw casing making it difficult/impossible to terminate the motor?

    Nope, almost 10 years on our saws, never had that problem.

    2 saws over 5 years old and never had that problem. We received a new cutters edge with our platform and it is temperamental when it's started. Anyone had problems with that? Our two old saws ran like raped apes on a 99:1 synthetic mixture. We switched to a 50:1 mixture on the new saw for some reason and it isn't performing like the others.

    Haven't heard of that happening here either. As far as your new saw, we run 100:1 fuel mixture. I copied this from the manufacturer's web site on the new 2100 series saw:

    IMPORTANT!
    Fuel/Oil Mix ratio using Cutters
    Edge Oil ... 100:1
    Using synthetic oils mix ... follow oil
    manufacturers recommendation
    Using any petroleum based oil ... 50:1

    Our older cutters edge had that problem. Ours was a crappy switch, the threaded part that passed through the body of the saw and was held in place by the nut stayed, the switch snapped off of the fitting. Ended up replacing it with an aftermarket switch of the same type, it works fine now.
    BTW it was a toggle type switch not a push button.

    The switch style I've seen the problems with has been the rocker style switch. They have been both replaced with after market toggle style switches.

    We have five of them and have not experienced the problems you mentioned. Our major gripe is the depth gauge and the locking mechinisum for it. Always wants to loosen during operation.

    Same here, I am seriously considering removing the depth gauge.

    Hehe,yep no problems with the switch(toggle style)but the depth gauge is a PITA.Not required for an experienced vent man anyway but it could stand some revamoing. T.C.

    This is due to being overtightened a few times, often until the threads bottom out. Try making up a rubber washer or two out of some old innertube.
