All testing is for FPAs from what I understand (I don't think there are any FF/EMT positions they are hiring for).
Test in Spring, '07.

BarMan-Do they train you for Paramedic, or do you have to be certified as one to take the test? Thanks for the info.

You go the fire academy and get EMT, FF I & II, Haz-mat, Rescue, Pump and EVD classes. You then get assigned to a station and start working. At a later date they start medic classes on your days off.

Fpa
Do you go to a Medic Unit or an Engine in the station?
How does the rotation work?

You get trained as a EMT-I, then continue classes until you obtain your P.
Some people have their Paramedic before the academy, some have their I, some don't have anything. (so, as stated above, BCFD will provide training for you).

Baltimore City Test
Hey Brother --
I've only heard that they pulled the last FPA class off the January, 2005 test list. There are rumors about a test coming up "in either February or March" (this is what I keep hearing, but if a test were to be in February the announcement would already be out. Last time for a January 5th test, the annoucement came out around October).
I, as well as you, keep hoping I hear something!!
I saw your last post just now. From that last test, they took 4 classes. Last January, I was told they are going to start testing more frequently than traditionally. Not sure about it being a "hard" department to get into; I thought I did pretty well on the test, but was not called for any of the physicals. From what the people at HR/Recruitment told me, "all things considered equal, city residents get preference" (direct quote). So, perhaps its our locations that are giving us a hard time with BCFD.
At any rate, please keep me posted if you hear anything and I will certainly do the same.
