    Just an update...

I got my helmet today from Jason with JB Rescue. All I have to say is AWESOME. I don't know where any opinions of low qaulity could possibly come from. Very well built and feels awesome on my head. Doesn't ride real high like the Cairns helmets do on me. I will work on getting some pictures up here soon.

Big thanks and two thumbs up to Jason!

Best of luck with the new lid. They must of redone the guts. I know many people complained about it. Maybe they listened.

I ordered mine with the ratchet, and it feels solid enough. Not as adjustable as my 1044, but it does the job just fine. There is a firm foam liner around the entire inside shell, which gives a very finished feel. I will try to snap some pictures of that as well.

And the pictures. Spent all morning today adjusting the impact liner so it fit on my head right, but now that it does, I love the way it feels. Posted a picture of the internals for those who were asking.

Hey there Brothers! It's been a while since I've been on here, but I wanted to give you all an update on my TL-2.

It's seen a lot of heat. The shield has shrunk, the Bourkes are melted and the lid is now nearly black instead of red.
Even after all that, the leather is still in great condition and it is more comfortable than ever to wear. I love the helmet as much now as I did when I first bought it...Maybe more!

    The Phenix TL-2 ROCKS!
I'll try to get a few pics of it and post 'em up as soon as I can!

What in specific were you not satisifed with? The only thing I wish the TL2 has that it doesnt is leather on the inside like the delux Cairns helmets do. Other than that I feel nothing that feels cheap or not on par with a qaulity helmet.

does anyone have a picture of a nape strap. What would be some of the pros and cons for getting a nape vs ratchet. all i've ever had is a ratchet so i was just curious.

    thanks

It started falling apart on me. One the the cheap plastic tags that hold the suspensions system broke. The most annoying part was the fore head pad became really loose and was moving up and down which was making my helmet go up and down on my head. I put velco on it, but it did not work.

Good luck with yours. They sure look nice.

I have had white on every helmet I have owned. Looks much better and doesnt fit in with everyone else.

I was thinking of swapping these to black though...thoughts?

Black gives it a real traditional look. I think that would look good. I think there a pic on this thread like that.

Same thing I was thinking. Leather just looks better monotone.

I look at helmets like my personal vehicles. They have got to be personalized. Otherwise whats the point?

Definitly the black ones. I assumed your chief wouldn't allow black ones or something like that. My chief wont let us use anything than the yellow ones. If I had a choice I'd have an all black helmet without any of those lame @ss things, but I guess the black stickers are the next best thing.

I've got black tets on my TL2 and get compliments all the time on it. Personally I love the way it looks with black tets.

We are pretty lucky to be able to personalize our gear the way we can. At the moment, the only things I have in my PPE that are department owned are the coat and pants.

    Black it is.

I bought the deluxe leather liner for the cairns helmets and modified it for the Phenix. now it is perfect. I will try and get some pics for you guys. all I had to do is cut two small lines in the liner where the rubber stoppers are in the helmet. It is great. I still kept the suede pad at the back.

I also bought a new Leather front for the TL2. I just wasn't totally happy with the look of the Sam Brown Shields. If anyone wants a Paul Conway front, you have to call them and tell them you have the TL2 helmet. They will make the shield that is 6.25" and a wide body to fit this helmet. It is not currently offered on their shield builder on the website.

This is the Leather Cairns liner that I modified to fit the Phenix. Makes the helmet that much more enjoyable.

Does anyone use the GloFlex Tetrahedrons on their helmets?
