Does anyone have any info on the older (1998-ish) Phenix leathers? I need a couple parts and apparently they don't make anything for those anymore...

Have you tried contacting Phenix Technology?

I'm buying my TL-2 in the next week, however, i also wondered about painting them. Mine will be black, but if I do get promoted, is it alright to repaint it, and would i go about it the same way as a Cairns helmet?

Does this Phenix look different than anyone else's. I think the filigree on this is way different than mine. Does Phenix use different filligree's? His also looks more shiny. Check it out, it is on ebay:

I guess I am not the only ones that surfs ebay everyday. I was hoping nobody would notice the helmet until I found out more info on it from the seller.

Yes it is much different than any Phenix that I have ever seen. I have emailed the seller to get more info on the helmet and hopefully some better pictures of the manufacture label and the rear brim. I will keep this post updated as to what I find out. I will probably bid on the helmet if in fact it is a "real" Phenix.

I believe that they do. Check out the custom job they put on ours in Fairfax County. The embossing is the same as the center of the patch.

Thanks for that. I did not know they did custom work like that. That is really nice. Mine has a 9/11 and W6 stamp in the filligree.

    No kidding!

A free helmet every now and then would suffice.

This is an older phenix lid. Probbably first generation leather for the company. I bought one off of e-bay a few years a go thinking it was a newer style. I think the newer ones are built a little better and more refined. You also will notice the older style brass eagle. It is virtually the same one that has caused many Ben II plus users problems with wire entanglement. The new phenix leathers use a one piece brass eagle and crown piece. Hope this helpes.

    Default TL2 on the way

Well, I placed my order today with Dave at Handtubjunction. Aparently he has an order of 6 on the way. As of right now, he said that 4 of them were spoken for. Thanks to Kevin, Chris, and DaGonz for all of the reviews and comparisons on this lid. I can't wait to get it in.

Haven't been on in a while but still love mine. Aand also welcome to phenix helmets. Dave will do you good. Mine has some wear and dtear on it but paint is so much better. A fellow FF just got a sam a few wmonths ago and already has to repaint it due to it being more white then black. Chris

    Talking finally!

Finally gave in to my urges today and decided to go ahead and order the phenix tl-2 as my first leather. Didn't take much research or deciding on which one to get after all of the great recommendations i've read here. Talked to Dave at Handtubs earlier in the weekend and called and left him a message today and waiting for a call back so I can order!

I have both a Paul Conway and a Phenix and I prefer the Phenix for the comfort and weight factor.

Has anyone has the problem of the front brim on your Phenix curling upward? In the past month I've had four guys call me with this problem.
