To be completely honest let me tell you what I like about it. I think the filigree is nice.

    1. What I do not like is the suspension. It seems to be some cheaply made. The front slides up in the helmet consantly. I tried to put velcro on it to keep it in place and it always seems to eventually creep back up.

    2. The ratchet never stays tight.

    3. Cosmetically, I think it looks big and goofy on me and a few other people who wear it at my house. Is it heavier than a Cairns? I think so.

    4. The leather wrinkles on the side brim and the back brim.

Sorry to air this, but you did ask. It may just be me because it seems like everyone else likes theirs. I am aware that Cairns has its flaws too, but I seem to like it better.

That is totally cool. I am sorry you dont like our product we are currently working to resolve everybodys opinion of our suspension system. But with everybodys variances in head size and shape it is a long process.

For the rachet it usually is just a loose screw in the back tighten that a little bit and I think you will no longer have that problem.

As for as the leather wrinkling that is because it is not treated like other helmets keeping it soft increases its shock attiuation and reduces weight.

then as weight goes, helmet for helmet it is lighter than any other leather out there of course there are variances for each helmet because each cow is different.

Thank you for your time I appreciate your comments I hope that you will give us another try in the future

So what you are saying is the more "juice" in the cow the heavier it is. I have no complaints so far. Although a month after i got it I was promoted to driver and the only time it gets worn is when I ride up to officer.

How long did it take for you guys to get your helmet? I ordered mine over 8 weeks ago. Is this normal? I've contacted my dealer and he hadn't received his invoice yet.

Hey, I finally got it today! I figured out why it took so long, the guy didn't order it until 4 weeks later after I called him. Anyway, I'll get some pics of it this weekend. It is extremely lighter than my Sam Houston.

    Default TL2 Cost?

Not to be the only broke fireman in the forums, but how much are the TL2's running these days? I'm going to order from Handtub Junction, but they don't list a price online and I've got to count out the pennies to mail to them...

    Hexxus,
Why are you selling it? Can you give the actual specs (i.e. suspension type, chin strap type, etc)? Also, do you have an email contact?

Mine costed me $480 brand new. I'll not order anything else from the guy I ordered from. I should have used Handtub but I decided to use a guy that was closer. I've had lots of compliments on it.

    ..you?

    WOW! Sounds like me, lately.

Working my regular shifts, teaching firefighter classes in a neighboring county, teaching live fire at my department, running my lawn service business, working on several projects on my house and spending every other free moment with my girls, my wife, and caring for my mom.

Oh, did I mention I have a few small construction jobs waiting in the wings?

Other than that, not too much is happening.

That's a lot of hours. What's your new job? I sure hope your not salaried.

    Default Ratchet system or Nape?

What are the pros and cons.
I am very green when it comes to the Nape. I ordered my TL2 just a 1/2 hour ago, and with out thought I said yes to the ratchet system, because that is what I know. So which is better the Nape or Ratchet?

    Thanks

for everyone that has one of these whats the best way to put the ear flaps in the helmet?

Also as has been said before I would highly recommend going with david at handtub junction. I just received my helmet today and it looks great and i'm sure that once I can put it in service and put it to use it will exceed my expectations.

The flaps Velcro in place...I would recommend just folding them up into the liner, much as you would any helmet ear flaps.

I completely removed the ear flaps from my lid. I never use them and they just get in my way.

BTW, I'm glad to hear that your another of Dave's satisfied customers!
