If you are 21 years old or older you can easily get on AMR in Hartford. If you want to ride along with them for a shift, I know they have had ride alongs before. I see them all the time. Where do you live?

Try contacting American Ambulance and see what the minimum age is for EMS. You can find them in the yellow pages. Back in my day 18 was good enough but I think AMR wants 21 and older. I used to work for Hunter's and they hired at 18. I live in Hebron by the way.

Could've said Oneco and really left people scratching their head where that was at

Now I have to go and whimper in the corner pondering the fact I can remember when Oneco ran a converted oil tanker with a pull-start gasoline pump to offload it...and I just busted the chops of someone not born when I put in my application...(I'm from a few towns over).

Turn off the blonde mode and look at the number at the end of my screen name

The only "fire" side person I've really dealt with personally from Sterling has been Lea through QV & EMT refreshers...and goodness, I haven't even seen her in person in a few years! My uncle was Superindent of Schools, but he would've retired right around when you would've been starting school.

He used to be a subcontracted instructor in our dept. He had a lot of stories that were all lies. We caught him telling war stories of pictures he would show on power point that were published out of books and other web sites. Much of his training was full of holes and inacurate. Did he tell you Boston FD wants him? Or he and Leo Stapleton are good buddies and go to lunch all the time? I'll give you one example: we were doing EMS training and he told us that if you are delivering a baby in the feild to put news paper under the mom to have a "steril" environment. He tried telling us that news paper is steril. His argument was that news paper and its chemical properties do not suport biological life. This may be true but that does not make steril. If you have your puppy go to the bathroom on news paper - Is it still steril? NO!!! I then said stainless steal also does not support biological life but the hospital still disinfects it. He said it was just procedure and they do it to please the public. This is a guy who claims to be a bio-chemist from phieser (spell?). Did you ever wonder why he got fired from phieser? He is a pure bull sh*t artist. Don't beleive half of what he says.
Why did he get fired from the accademy? I'm not exactly sure so I won't speculate. Maybe you should ask him and see if he even admits to it.

One other thing: He was telling everyone he was on the job in our dept. and was the training officer. NOT TRUE!!! He was just a subcontracted instructor nothing more nothing less.

How can you say that about the inventor of Viagra? Brophy told me that he was hired as a LT. in Chicago. Does he still teach for Three Rivers?

I guess it is a small world!! This is the only place where I have ever seen more then 2 CT people respond!!! I just thought I would let you all know I took my praticals this past Saturday and I am just waiting to see how I did. I am a little nervous about my Tramua station. It was a wierd scenrio my pt. had no distal pulses but no severe injuries to any extermities so I am a little worried and confused on that one! But I guess I just have to wait and see!

    Farmgurl,

Welcome to the world of public safety! Check out www.emtbravo.com and click on network forums. Web site was started by Westchester County, NY FF's but there are alot of CT FF's on it. And Keith, I had Brophy before and heard alot of the stories you mentioned, but I didnt realize they werent true. I feel degraded.

    Nickcabral,
I know what you mean. When I first met him I thought highly of him. He spoke very well and seemed to be very educated in his feild. Then it went to the extreme and just didn't add up. His training got strange and he would teach things that just didn't make sense. His war stories were way to frequent for a small rural dept and someone noticed his slide show came from a publication. So we started looking carefuly at the pictures and not only were they not from his dept they weren't from Connecticut. So we chalked it up as stories 'till someone called him on it.
