    Always impressive when something that big gets underway on its own or under tow.
    The only thing that would have made this move better is if it was under her own steam.

    Whats the story here? Is she heading out to sea? And yes, always very impressive to see one 'o them under power. Even when they pass so dang close you're sure the top of the mast is gonna hit the overhang on the flight deck, but then you realize there is still at least 40 more feet ABOVE that (or so it seems). But thats just the observation of a Frigate Freak! R.A.Sing from one of them is pretty kuul too. (R.A.S. - Replenishment At Sea - for those non-nautical persons out there.)

    Going into drydock for 2 years for general repairs and upgrades to the displays, from what i understand.

    Nice pics, RR. Especially with a camera-phone!

    She is heading to Bayonne, NJ for a makeover. They attempted to tow her last month but the sediment build up around the screws got in the way. Recent dredging, several tugs and a high tide help free her for much needed repairs.

    They attempted to tow her last month but the sediment build up around the screws got in the way.
    When I was in the Navy, the tenders would have this problem. But it wasn't sediment, it was coffee grounds as they never went anywhere. All the while the rest of us where haze gray and underway.

    And remember,tenders used to be the only ships that could head out on a cruise and come back with more people than when they left.Women used to "fraternize"in order to get pregnant and ordered off the ship to duty more to their liking.
    As to haze grey and underway,when we went to Gitmo for FLTREFTRA(fleet refresher training),we started having troubles with the engines just after the yard warranty expired and for the rest of that training period,we didn't simulate the casualties,we actually HAD them.We did skip the collison experience though.The Captain insisted.

    For those who never spent 8 weeks in a building learning to call a floor a deck and requesting "Permission to come aboard,Sir"when entering that building so you knew how to report board and act once you got to the fleet and found your rack assignment,this explains it better than I could.And people wonder why sailors will default and call everyone "Sir"when confused.
