Sound Off! Officer wages war against our allegiance to Queen

A Canadian Forces officer is suing Canada's top soldier over a ''degrading'' policy that requires members of the military to toast the Queen and salute during the anthem, God the Save the Queen. Capt. Aralt Mac Giolla Chainnigh, an associate professor of physics at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, wants a court to overturn the requirement for Forces members to publicly display their loyalty to the British monarchy.

I think traditions should only be folowed if desired.
same thing with kids being forced to say "one nation under god" at US schools.
Being agnostic, I never said it, but I know kids who have gotten in trouble when they refused to say it.
At the same time however, it doesn't bother me that money says "in god we trust" or anything, although I don't actually believe it should be there.

For better or for worse, I am what might be referred to as a Traditionalist/Royalist. Which means that I strongly support both tradition and the Queen, as our Soveriegn. Actually, in general I support any person or country's traditions as long as they do not impinge upon my own beliefs. However even if they do impinge, I will still respect them.
I think a good example of this is each time we hold a Company meeting at the firehouse, we open the meeting with the Pledge of Alliegance. Its not my pledge, but out of respect, I stand to attention, as is only fitting and appropriate. But then of course I am also an Army Geek too, so that plays into it a lot.If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over? (Hall of Fame basketball player/coach John Wooden)

It is spelled MUTTHow do you spell canis lupus....?"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

Thanks Cap. When I get mad enough, I stop using slang words and go straight for the dictionary.

This is from the "Sound Off" link:
"Roy" says:It probably would make more sense to swear allegiance to the country rather than the Queen, but it's hardly an issue worth sacrificing one's career over. If the complainant is having trouble with it, then he should treat it like a trip to the dentist, a necessary, but not enjoyable, experience. If you don't do it RIGHT today, when will you have time to do it over?
