My condolences to the Wilburn family and the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department of Maryland. Former Fire Chief Edward Wilburn, 64, a 33 year veteran of the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department, died Saturday December 9, 2006. Ed was heading to the fire station to respond to a report of a trailer fire when he experienced a medical emergency. He lost control of his vehicle and it left the roadway coming to rest about 25 feet from the highway. His brother firefighters repsonded and pulled him from his truck and attempted to resuscitate him. He was flown to Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland where he was pronounced dead.
