I have been at a loss on how I may thank so many of the brothers and sisters that have sent their well wishes and prayers to my brothers and my department. I decided to post here since this is such a widely read forum in the hope that my gratitute will reach as many of you as possible.
As many of you have seen on the Firehouse front page two of my brothers: Lt. John Fowler and FF Craig Covino were injured in a house fire. While responding on the second alarm Engine 40 was involved in a serious crash injuring four more of my brothers: Lt. John Volosin, FF MJ Chaddick, FF Jason Dunn, and FF Phil McElroy.
The outpouring of support from all over the U.S. has been tremendous. It has kept our spirits high in this trying time. And it truly shows the bonds of our brotherhood. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you to the many brothers and sisters!I can't believe they actually pay me to do this!!!
One friend noted yesterday that a fire officer only carries a flashlight, sometimes prompting grumbling from firefighters who have to lug tools and hoses.
"The old saying is you never know how heavy that flashlight can become," the friend said.
