I got the offical notification of my promotion today. My promotion becomes effective on Saturday, January 13th when I report for duty with Group 3 as Deputy Chief.![]()
Group 3 was the "band of brothers" I started with back in November of 1981, so it's a "homecoming" of sorts.
I am looking forward to the challenge (and the increase in pay that comes with it!)
The one thing I won't miss is doing the daily rosters, filling out the attendance cards, calling for fire details and most of all,, no more BS medicals at "oh m God it's early" hours!![]()

It's official...
"The education of a firefighter and the continued education of a firefighter is what makes "real" firefighters. Continuous skill development is the core of progressive firefighting. We learn by doing and doing it again and again, both on the training ground and the fireground."

Well, I didn't mean to make it quite THAT big. But it won't let me change it

Congrats, El Presidente, from just to your South. Good luck and I'll be thinking of ya as I roll out to one of our nursing homes on those 03:30 medicals! Yours ears might just be tingling a little bit.......... Oh yeah, if you need any advise, ya know, from someone who has previous experience acting in the car for a day, just gimme a call, I'll see if I can help you along.

Congrats, Gonz! As others have asked...is a new screen name in the offing?
I wouldn't ask, but for the fact that I would probably make chief by the time the webteam got around to changing yours to the correct title.
