    Default 24 January Webcast

This afternoon's webcast should be of benefit to all of us, not just the company officer.

The whole decision making process isn't just left to training and reacting on autopilot, but encompasses keeping your self calm, thinking rationally, and not being "like a moth drawn to a flame".

1500 hours EST, 1200 hours PST.

Hopefully, everyone can take something from this back to their department.

    Default A good program

Some key points and areas of future discussion:
    • Personnel training is the key to having to manage a fireground with limited personnel.
    • Radio Management vs. Communication Management.
    • Everyone should have a radio, but not everyone should talk on one.
    • What is "experience"?
    • What is preliminary report? What needs to be said?
    • What is a progress report? What needs to be said?
    • How do you approach "trapped" and "missing" with maydays?
    • Operational progress is determined by interior fire spread, exposure control and collapse potential.
    • What is your reflex time?
    • Chief officers must take into account the personality and character of the company officers they work with along with their training and experience. Do they need to be coached a little on the fireground?
