I would think that ordering a set of study guides would be helpful

Doesn't your department provide a list of reference materials that the test will be pulled from to promotional candidates?

Hey Bou,
First of all, good luck man.
I'm not sure how things are done in Cali but in Wisconsin usually the written is a combination of a few pumping formulas, math, dynamics of a pump, state traffic laws, incident command structures, building construction, mechanics of equipment and a little bit more math...
If I would give advice, I would say brush up on those items.

Stick to studying only the material the test will be taken from.
You can broaden your horizons after the exam, but I strongly recommend you don't confuse yourself by possibly getting conflicting information from a source other than the approved reference materials.
