A chick flick, i wouldn't go that far. It was sad at the end, but it was a story of a FireFighter's life and family struggles. It seems every movie when someone dies, it's a chick flick. Matrix Revolution...Chick Flick...lol.

thats what i was wondering, how to find a copy of the towering inferno. i have also noticed, at least where i am, that it is getting hard to find "backdraft". i went to best buy and could not find the towering inferno, but i found season 1 and 2 of "emergency". any ideas of where to find it?

Ladder 49 was cleverly packaged and promoted as a firefighter movie, then you got there and half-way through you realize "oh my God, it's a CHICK FLICK!!" still an ok movie as far as chick flicks go. only thing it was missing was Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
Emergency Season 3 will be out later this month.

So what you guys are saying is that Ladder 49 is not necessarily an accurate depiction of real-world firefighting?
And here I thought I could throw out my essentials book and just watch this movie over and over.....and over.....and over.....LOL!
And does that mean we can't wear our dirty, smelly, chemical contaminated bunker pants to the grocery store in an effort to pick up really hot chicks running in packs?
It was a good movie though...perhaps it was a wee bit chick flicky....I never noticed though.....I'll have to watch towering inferno, never seen it.Last edited by SWLAFireDawg; 01-29-2007 at 07:25 AM. Reason: TYPO...I can't type....

My wife definitely didn't think it was a "chick flick". It scared her half to death. How is a movie full of guys getting killed at fires and playing jokes on each other in the firehouse a chick flick, just because they show some of his family life? Don't men have families?

Why is it a chick flick? Because every guy in it acted like a half sissy crybaby in almost every scene! Would you want to work with that pack of overly sensitive little girls??? That movie was pitiful! I was actually embarrased when I came out of the theater (and my wife and friends teasing me didn't help!). A Hugh Grant romantic comedy would have more ballz than that whole movie and at least wives and gf's will appreciate you taking them to it!
I am a complacent liability to the fire service

It has chick flick elements. Movie stuff aside, it has its moments. Enough to make it worth watching. The death is symbolic of our attitude. We would rather die than put our brothers in extreme danger.

Also runs a ton of truely classic movies, i.e. The Searchers, Gone With the Wind, Citizen Kane ect.
Yeah so they've started showing some new movies. What does that tell you?
It doesn't tell me anything.
OH and AMC is showing Hell Fighters, The Towering Inferno, and Ladder 49 on Saturday Feb. 3
