Default 2006 F-350 will not start

Our Dept has a 2006 Ford F350 that has not started in the station for runs. The ford shop that we bought it from states they can not find anything wrong but has made issue of the added equpt. for our operation. Has anyone had the same problem? everything works but the starter. It is not a Batt. problem.

Does it have any of the following?
    Neutral safety switch
    Emergency shutdown switch
    Low oil/hi temp safety
Check these before condemning the starter. Also check voltage drops on all power and ground circuits. T.C.

We have had similar issues with our 1998 Ford F-350 ambulance. It dies and will not restart for no apparent reason. No indications given before dying, restarts sometimes and not others. No faults found with the computer analysis. They (Ford Dealership) replaced the camshaft sensor three times and now have given up. Ford says tehy will figure it out if we pay for a complete teardown. Its a trade in ambo that is now OOS until trade day. We use it for around town to see if we can recreate the issue, but as usual you cannot make it fail when anyone's looking!!

When you say everything works but the starter do you mean it will not crank over at all or it will crank but not start? And what engine is it, the 6.0 I assume.

    Lightbulb no start situation

is it a diesel or gasser? if its a diesel, turns over, but will not start, its a good possibility its the glowplugs. at one job I worked at, we had a f350 that we finally figured out that the glowplugs weren't working even though the wait light went off & no trouble codes ever showed up. started fine after being plugged in all night & had no probs with starting after that.
if its a gasser, sounds more like the neutral safety switch or a sensor fried. also check all the fuses & breakers. they sometimes are wired funky.

If it is a 6.0l Diesel, we have had a similar problem. Our no-start condition was transient, and the engine would usually start after resting for a short time. After having it not start several times in the station, at the hospital and after sitting outside on a standby, and after multiple Ford dealers and the ambulance manufacturers shop telling us "we can't find a problem", a mechanic had his test equipment hooked up at just the right time to find the high oil pressure sensor(the one that regulates the fuel pump) was not reading pressure. A manual guage confirmed that we had no high pressure oil at startup. This results in the fuel pump not delivering fuel to the injectors, thus not starting. We are still trying to resolve this issue(it's still at the shop)

    I hope this helps.

You might want to consider posting your issue to the Ford Truck enthusiast site, there are some very knowledgeable people there who have been very helpful to us in the past. Go to the Forums and then scroll down to the 6.0 L discussion thread and post there.

We had the same problem. Our dealer also told us to use 10w-30 oil instead of the 15w-40 we were using. Thicker oils make a hard cold start condition. After reading the TSB that Ford put out I think our dealer was nuts. The 10w-30 was for temp. below like 30 degrees. In a heated bay use what weight you want. If it is 7.3 they are prone to crank position sensor failure and the glow plug relay failing.
