Hers is ending up a sad story, and no disrespect to the deceased intended, but the drowning coverage on some news channels on this is way overboard. There are far more important things going on in the world than this.

I agree with you Electrichoser...my sympathies to the family. However, to the media and such..Why is this news? Society today is more concerned about celebrities and what is going on in their lives.

Where is the news coverage about the Detroit FF killed, how about the Canadian FF killed in the flashover?

I for one am tired about hearing about celebrity lives. I really could care less about what is going on with them. And...this should not be Breaking News!

I also don't have much interest in the 'rich and famous', but the fact remains..a 39 year old woman is dead. Had she died in a fire would the opinion still be..'oh well' ?

You won't... as they are not "newsworthy" except in the Metro Detroit and Winnepeg areas.

I just copied the above from the National section of the NY Times. Anna rated second billing, meanwhile, 4 US servicemen died in Anbar today. Does anyone care?

The idiot media will probably anoint her America's very own Princess Diana.

A friend of mine's cousin was one of the 7 US Marines killed in a helicopter crash yesterday in Iraq. Now that's tragic. Anna Nicole.....not so tragic.

    Thumbs down

Yes, it is bad news to the family but we don't need 7 major news channels covering it. Maybe a mention of it in the news casts or a small write up for the news ticker that runs along the bottom of the tv screen, but they didn't need to but in with the breaking news headline to announce it.

How ironic, she always wanted to be Marylin Monroe, and she died pretty much the same way; dead in her room.

I am not ever at any time overly interested in celebrity news, but I did catch bit of this on the news last night, and other than agreeing it was tragic - a loss of another person always is. And especially for the family and close friends, I didnt think it was heart-stopping "Breaking News". Pearl Harbor and the sudden death of a Country Leader are heart-stoppers, not some socialite.

However, I did get very annoyed very quickly with this story when the commentator of the news stated something like "Heer-aldo" {Yes name intentionally spelled WRONG} was on the scene and would make his report later in the evening. It was also commented that Heer-aldo was expected to comment that death was by drug overdose.

Personally I think the guy is a dork - but thats just me - but to make leading comments like that about anybody before the autopsy is done...... thats not news reporting thats heresay.

Just sucks that in order to find really noteworthy news you have to dig deep and search hard.

Who is Anna Nicole Smith?? How come I didn't see any mention of this on the new?

The best was Jack Cafferty asking Wolfe Blitzer "Is Anna Nicole still dead?" after finishing a segment on "real" news.

I heard this was drug use, and for that, I don't really feel sorry for her, just her family/friends. I never feel bad for drug overdoses, except feeling bad for the person for making such poor choices.

Either way, her being a celebrity I suppose it deserves a mention in the news, but that it. I hate celebrity news. My GFs friend was over with others, and Access hollywood was on and there was something about Angalina Jolie and some new guy she was dating, and we went to go to Sportscenter and she flipped out at us... Honestly, who cares about their lives?

I understand that a celebrity dying is more news than random person dying in a fire, but only on a national level. people in CA don't really care too much about a person dying in a fire in FL. Everyone knows who she is, so its news. It jsut shouldn't be as much news as it is.

    She was really annoying anyway.

I used to think my Fiance watching celebrity news was bad. Now she's hooked on "Whose wedding is it anyway", I see that things can be much much worse.

    Default From my Blog

Here is what I wrote on my blog regarding Anna Nicole Smith and celebrety worship in general:

Why the heck is it such a big deal that Anna Nicole ****h died? What made her so damn famous!

Yes it is tragic that a 39 year old woman died in what seems to be a drug related death. But here is my question:

How many sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, family and friends died yesterday because they slowly spiraled down a slope of depression, drug addiction, and self hate. How many people died yesterday because they took too many drugs. And how many of those people are being talked about today? Everyone of those people was very important if not the most important to somebody that is left alive and alone, and nobody cares about any of them. But Anna Nicole Smith dies, and its a national tragedy!

I am really ticked off by the hero worship of the Hollywood rich and famous! These people make more money than mayors, governors, senators, presidents or anybody else that runs a government. The people who have to make the decisions and choices that impact our lives each and every day get paid a very small percentage of what these Stars get paid to show their body in playboy, mary an old almost dead rich guy, and spending the last couple years of their lives showing up drunk and high to any public event!!!

The only thing that ****es me off more than these famous people, are people who are famous for no reason at all!

Ashley Simpson - Only famous because of her sister Jessica
K-Fed - Famous for dumping one rich Girlfriend who was pregnant with his 2nd kid to mary and divorce Britney Spears.

The list can go on forever. How come nobody gives a 2nd thought to the people that really matter. There was less media coverage when President Ford died! We all have friends in family in Iraq, but the only time they matter to anybody in the media is if they come back in a flag-draped coffin!!! The media can kiss my shiny little behind. People need to wake up and really start caring about what is inportant in their lives.

Kids, Teenagers, and young adults cannot tell you the first 10 Ammendments in the Bill of Rights, but they can tell you every song that Snoop Dog has released. People have no idea who the Secretary of State is, but they know who won every American Idol. They cannot find Iraq, Korea, China, Europe, or even America on a map, but they know every single person on MySpace.

People bitch about our situation in Iraq, they bitch because of Taxes, our streets, our Government, they bitch about pretty much everything that is Important in our lives, but they spend more time reading about what is going on in Hollywood, than worry about Washington DC. What Rehab is Lindsey Lohan in today, is Britney Spears wearing her underwear today, what couple is getting married/divorced/remarried today? But they will not take the time to write to their Members of Congress, the President, their Major or Council Person. There can be a debate in the State or Federal Senate that could decide how you will spend the next 20 years of your life, and most people are more worried about deciding "Deal or No Deal".

If we could just harvest a tiny bit of the concern that the United States has for its Hollywood Elite, and direct it towards concern about our own lives and the lives of our fellow man, the country would be a better place.

    End Rant.
