Alright, I was asked the other day about the significance of the raised ornamental decorations on the brim of the helmet. I thought I was versed in the history of the leather helmet, and at the very minimum thought I knew where I could get the answer to this question but I was stumped.
So, I pose the question, what is the significance of the raised ornamental decorations on the brim of the helmet?

They look pretty.
Psychiatrists state 1 in 4 people has a mental illness.
Look at three of your friends, if they are ok, your it.

Why do firefighters wear suspenders?
To keep their pants from falling down.
But honestly, I would say what Kiwi said.Just because it's called a throw bag, doesn't mean you throw the whole bag... you're supposed to hold onto the rope.

Well..........
If you REALLY want to know everything about Leather Helments, Go dig up Henry Gratacamp. Mr. Gratacamp invented the Leather Helment, back around 1860, in New York. He was a Tailor by trade, and a Volunteer fireman in Manhattan. No, Rick, I wasn't there......

If my basic HazMat training has taught me nothing else, it's that if you see a glowing green monkey running away from something, follow that monkey!
